Andrea E. Schlather is currently an Annette de la Renta Junior Fellow at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she is working to understand the optical response of daguerreotype surfaces. In 2015, she received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Laboratory for Nanophotonics at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Under the direction of Naomi J. Halas, she researched the optical and electrochemical properties of metal- molecule hybrid nanomaterials, as well as advanced fabrication techniques for the development of novel nanophotonic materials. Her research interests include the photochemistry of light-sensitive and photographic materials, as well as the application of nanoscale optical and optoelectronic techniques to the study and preservation of art and heritage materials.
