Bob Herskovitz has been an objects conservator since 1975, first with the Arizona Historical Society and, since 1987, with the Minnesota Historical Society. He is responsible for the development and implementation of the Minnesota Historical Society Conservation Outreach Program, which provides advice and technical assistance to collections holdings organizations including archives, historical societies, libraries, museums as well as the general public. He is part of the staff of the Minnesota State Historic Preservation office working to preserve historic structures and also reviews proposals submitted to the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Legacy Grants program. Bob was one of the early group trained as an AIC-Cert Responder (now FAIC-NHR) and has presented numerous workshops on disaster response. He also provided input on the development of both the “Emergency Response and Salvage Wheel” and the “Field Guide to Emergency Response.” Bob has responded to disaster events including local and regional floods, tornadoes, HVAC failures and an arson fire.
