Cynthia Schwarz is the Associate Conservator of Paintings at the Yale University Art Gallery. Her research interests include the structural treatment of canvas paintings, the conservation of 19th- and 20th-century American murals, and how advances in microbiology can aid in materials identification in conservation. She graduated from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in 2009 and has worked at the Château de Parentignat, in Auvergne, France, the Balboa Art Conservation Center, and with private conservators before joining the Yale University Art Gallery in 2008. She lectures for the Technical Examination of Art course in the History of Art department at Yale University and the Summer Teachers Institute in Technical Art History.
