The Field Museum is one of the larger natural history museums in the US and houses thirty million specimens. Following an introduction to the institution, participants will receive a guided tour of the Anthropology labs and will see some of the storage areas for the 1.5M item anthropology collection. Highlights of the tour will include the below-ground Collections Resource Center (completed in 2006) which houses the ethnographic collections, the Regenstein Lab visible conservation and imaging center, and the Anthropology conservation labs. Attendees will also have time to explore the galleries on their own. The tour is limited to thirty people, and will be conducted in two groups of fifteen people. Remember at the beginning when we said the Field Museum is large? Come prepared to walk!
