Karl Buchberg has a B.A. from Columbia University and a M.A. and Diploma in Conservation from New York University. Before coming to The Museum of Modern Art he was the Conservator of Rare Books and Special Collections at the Firestone Library of Princeton University. From 1984 to 1990 he was a part-time Lecturer at the Columbia University School of Library Service Conservation Program. He has worked at The Museum of Modern Art for thirty years. As conservator attached to the 2007 exhibition Georges Seurat: The Drawings, he published the essay “Seurat: Materials and Techniques” in the exhibition catalog. He was both co-curator and conservator for the exhibition Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs at MoMA, 2014-2015. Karl D.
