Lisa Ackerman is an Associate Conservator of Objects at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she restored a Grinling Gibbons overmantle from the Cassiobury House, Hertfordshire, England, ca. 1680s. She is currently overseeing the conservation needs of the Applied Arts of Europe and Asian curatorial departments. Previously, she was employed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art as an assistant conservator for the renovation of the British Galleries where she was part of the team responsible for the conservation of the Cassiobury House Staircase. She also focused on the mantelpiece wall from the Star Hotel in Norfolk, England, ca. 1600, as well as furniture and other wooden decorative arts from Britain. Lisa has previously worked for other museums and private conservation firms. During summer 2016 she completed the ICCROM International Course on Wood Conservation Technology in Oslo, Norway. She also completed The Examination of Transparent Coatings on Furniture and Wooden Objects course given through HAWK HHG, Hornemann Institut. E-mail: lackerman1@artic.edu.
