Lisa Ackerman holds an Associate in Specialized Technology in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and had spent several years working in graphic design and publishing prior to receiving her BA in Visual Arts from SUNY Empire State College. She is currently at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City completing the final requirements for her MA/CAS from the Art Conservation Department at SUNY Buffalo State College. Upon completion of her her third-year internship, she will continue working in the Objects Conservation Department at The Met. She acquired her experience through internships at the Brooklyn Museum and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as through her employment as a Conservation Technician at the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of African American History and Culture; Period Furniture Conservation; and Fine Wood Conservation . During summer 2015 she held an internship at the Baltimore Museum of Art where her focus was outdoor sculpture. During summer 2016 she completed the ICCROM International Course on Wood Conservation Technology in Oslo, Norway. She also completed The Examination of Transparent Coatings on Furniture and Wooden Objects course given through HAWK HHG, Hornemann Institut.
