Malina Belcheva is a book and paper conservator specializing in fine art conservation and restoration with specific interest in rare books, maps, manuscripts and conservation of artworks on leather and paper. Ms. Belcheva graduated in Conservation from the American Academy of Bookbinding. Her previous education is in the field of Philosophy, she completed the PhD program in Philosophy of Politics, Culture, Law and Economics and has a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, Bulgaria. Ms. Belcheva has held conservation positions at the Art Institute of Chicago, Harold Washington Library Center, and at Northwestern University conservation laboratories. She has been an avid supporter of international design binding exhibitions presented in the United States and exhibited her design bindings and conservation work nationally and internationally. She writes and researches on topics in book conservation and bookbinding inspired by her conservation practice.
