Meaghan Monaghan is the Assistant Conservator of Paintings at The Art Gallery of Ontario. She received her Masters of Art Conservation in 2010 from Queen's University. After internships at the Australian Museum and Canadian Conservation Institute she held fellowship positions at Yale University Art Gallery, the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK) and the Walters Art Museum. Through these positions as well as contracts with the National Gallery of Canada, Protect Heritage Corp. and the Parliament Hill Rehabilitation Project she had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of art objects. Her research interests include: risk assessment and preventive conservation approaches; preserving matte unvarnished paint surfaces; and challenges related to conservation, storage, and display of large-scale painted textiles and banners. Her long-term professional goal is continued research and treatment in the field of painting conservation with a strong involvement in education and public outreach.
