Quinn Morgan Ferris is the Senior Conservator for Special Collections at the University of Illinois Library at Urbana-Champaign, where she started as the Rare Book Conservator in 2016. Quinn's current position at the U of I includes conservation treatment and planning for Special Collections materials, student supervision and teaching, academic research initiatives, outreach and advocacy, and participation in grant writing and implementation. She is an adjunct lecturer at the University of Illinois School of Information Sciences, and is the process of developing workshop modules for training and outreach purposes both locally within the library and campus community, and for use in other university library contexts. Quinn is a graduate of New York University's Institute of Fine Arts Conservation Center, where she was a Andrew W. Mellon Graduate Fellow in Library and Archives Conservation. As an graduate student, she worked for the Barbara Goldsmith Preservation Department at NYU's Bobst Library (New York, NY), the Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation, (New York, NY), the Villa la Pietra (Florence, Italy) and for the National Park Service, (Skagway, AK) on various conservation projects. Quinn has been a member of AIC as well as the Guild of Book Workers since 2011, and in 2014 was selected as a Williston Fellow for the Washington Conservation Guild. In 2015, Quinn became the Conservation Fellow for Instruction and Outreach at the University of Virginia Library, where she used her treatment-oriented position to focus on the preservation of class-used special collection items, as well as teaching and advocacy concerning care and handling of rare and delicate materials.
