Centro Nacional de Conservacion y Restauracion
Conservator
Chile
I hold a Bachelor degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, from the International University SEK. Since then, I have been specializing in Conservation of the Archeological record, followed by the participation as a main conservator in diverse field projects in order to managing the strategies of conservation in-situ. I have an extensive experience in both management and overseeing scientific researches, and treatments on different components of the archaeological record. In addition to my skills as a conservator in the excavation process, I have studies on Archaeological record with an Archeometric point of view. From 2007 to 2015, I have been employed as a Coordinator of the research and intervention program at the Laboratory of Archaeology at the National Center of Conservation and Restoration. Now days I am the head conservator of the laboratory. This position entailed being in charge of all projects related with studies on raw material, deterioration process, and in both buried and external environment condition. I am also the first point of contact for Curators of Archeological Museums, interested in researching and preservation of their collections. Prior to my bachelor in conservation, I studied 5 semesters of Chemistry and Pharmacy in the University of Chile, which allowed me not only a better comprehension of the deterioration process but also leading decisions related with instrumental analysis. Furthermore I undertook theoretical and practical training in Archeometric analyses of archaeological heritage, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and University of Tarapacá, Chile.
