Elinor Dei Tos Pironti
Fashion Institute of Technology
Textile Conservator
Brooklyn, NY
I am a recent graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology's, Fashion and Textiles Studies program in NYC. I am in the process of opening a small conservation studio in Brooklyn, with the intention of working on small private conservation projects and to be available to work with other conservators on larger conservation projects. My involvement with textiles has been in various capacities, designing for the industry, weaving and selling one of a kind woven garments and now, opening a small conservation practice. Through continued research in textile history and technology, and experience gained from conservation projects, I hope to be able to contribute to the body of conservation literature concerning textile related objects. I am also a painter. My formal education consists of: *MA, Fashion and Textile Studies – Fashion Institute of Technology, NY – Spring 2016 *MFA, Painting – Vermont College, VT – Winter 1996 *Graduate level study, Fiber Department – Cranbrook Academy of Art, MI – 1980-81 *Graduate Assistantship, Fiber Department – Montclair State College, NJ – 1975-76 *BFA, Textile Design – Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), RI – Spring 1975 *Textile Design/Science, three-year focus – High School of Fashion Industries, NY – Spring 1971
