Maureen is a lecturer in the Conservation & Technology Department at The Courtauld Institute of Art, London. She was appointed in 2005. She worked as a professional conservator at the National Museums of Liverpool, Manchester City Art Galleries and Tate before undertaking her current post at The Courtauld. Maureen teaches materials history and conservation theory courses as well as supervises practical conservation treatments. Her position includes developing and advancing the conservation of modern paintings in the Department and has published on the subject. In addition, Maureen works as a paintings conservator for The Courtauld Gallery and is currently researching Edouard Manet’s technique focusing on the treatment of Courtauld’s version of the Dejeuner sur l’Herbe; this work is supported by funding from the Clothworkers’ Foundation. Since 2013, Maureen has also taken on the role of Associate Dean for Student Affairs for The Courtauld Institute.
