Kari Rayner is an Associate Conservator of Paintings at the J. Paul Getty Museum. She graduated in 2015 from the Conservation Center of the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University with an MA in art history and Advanced Certificate in conservation. Kari held various internships prior to and during her graduate training, including at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne, Germany and Modern Art Conservation in New York, NY. She completed her fourth year internship at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., then held a year-long post-graduate internship at the Hamilton Kerr Institute, University of Cambridge before returning to the National Gallery of Art for an Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in paintings conservation from 2016 through 2019. She additionally held a fellowship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art beginning in September 2019 prior to joining the staff of the J. Paul Getty Museum in 2020.

Kari served as Chief Wiki Editor for the Paintings Specialty Group from 2016 through 2021. She also served as an officer of the Emerging Conservation Professionals Network between 2016 and 2019, first in the role of Webinar Coordinator, Vice Chair the following year, and Chair from 2018-19.
