Deborah Trupin received an MA in art history and Diploma in Conservation from New York University's Institute of Fine Arts, Conservation Center. From 1986 to 2015, she was Textile Conservator for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation’s Bureau of Historic Sites (Peebles Island) in Waterford, NY, where she was responsible for the conservation of the textile and upholstery collections of the 38 state run historic sites, as well as for supervising the New York State Battle Flag Preservation Project and contract textile conservation projects. In addition to being a Fellow of AIC, she is a member of ICOM-CC, IIC, AAM, and AASLH. She has been a grant reviewer for IMLS and NEH and have taught flag and upholstery conservation courses in Finland. Within AIC, she has served as member and chair of the Membership and Awards Committees. She has been Secretary, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the Textile Specialty Group and an editor for the Textile Conservation Catalogue.
