Matthew Eckelman is an Assistant Professor at Northeastern University in Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a secondary appointment in Chemical Engineering. His research covers life cycle assessment, environmental systems modeling, and green engineering, with a focus on modeling the environmental impacts of novel materials and the built environment.  Dr. Eckelman has spoken at several venues on buildings and sustainability, including GreenBuild, Engineering Sustainability and Life Cycle Assessment conferences, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and Darden School of Business.  He consults regularly on sustainability-related projects with a range of businesses, institutions, and government agencies on life cycle assessment and environmental management initiatives.  He is the Chief Technical Officer of Sustainability A to Z, LLC, a green engineering firm, and sits on the Advisory Board of the Resources Optimization Initiative in India. He received a doctorate in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Yale and a BA in Physics and Mathematics from Amherst College.
