Mimi Leveque is a conservator of objects and textiles with a special interest in archaeological materials, in particular ancient Egyptian artifacts. She has worked for over 30 years on the examination and conservation of Egyptian mummies and coffins. She has also conducted experiments to replicate ancient Egyptian faience and cartonnage. Mimi is currently the Conservator of objects at the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, MA. She has previously worked at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Providence and at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She received an M.A.C in objects and textile conservation from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada and an M.A. in Western Asiatic Archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology (now University College), University of London, UK. She has done archaeological field conservation in such far-flung places as Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Italy, Peru and England.
