Nicholas Zumbulyadis

Independent Researcher
Rochester, NY
Dr. Nicholas Zumbulyadis obtained his Diploma in Chemistry in 1971 at the Technical University of Darmstadt, in Germany, and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Columbia University in 1974. In March 1976 he joined the Eastman Kodak Research Laboratories where he worked as a research scientist until his retirement in June 2005. He is the author of over sixty scientific publications on nuclear magnetic resonance. His research at Kodak focused on the application of solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance to problems in materials science. Nick's post-retirement research interests focus on the application of solid-state NMR methods to the characterization and conservation of cultural heritage objects jointly with the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the University of Delaware. His most recent research emphasizes the adoption of novel, highly sensitive magnetic resonance techniques as minimally invasive methods in cultural heritage studies.
Along related lines of research, Nick is also exploring the connections between the History of Chemistry and Technical Art History
