Tom Colley is the Interim Director and Archive and Collection Manager at the Video Data Bank at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The VDB is a leading resource in the United States for video by and about contemporary artists. Through its distribution and preservation activities the VDB works to foster a deeper understanding of video art and artists, and to broaden access and exposure to media art histories. In addition, Tom collaborates in running the Butcher Shop, an artist run studio space. He received a Bachelor's degree in Art and Anthropology from Oberlin College, and a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois.
